The Arivana Narrative

Our Origin

The concept of Arivana was given by Mr. Osama Manzer, the founder of DEF India (Digital Empowerment Foundation). DEF India is an NGO dedicated to driving development autonomy across rural landscapes. The District Coordinators (DCs) of DEF select the most promising individual to be "Soochnapreneurs" (SPs) i.e Information Entrepreneurs. To bridge the rural-urban divide, DEF India equips these SPs with essential tech infrastructure. At its core, Arivana is an initiative completely driven, managed and executed by the "Soochnapreneurs"

Born out of a profound necessity to restore balance, dignity and provide spotlight to areas deep with the northern part of West Bengal - spanning the lush but fragile landscapes of Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and Cooch Behar - there lies a heritage of tea cultivation. However, behind the scenic mist of the region lay a harsh reality : several tea gardens had closed down and the skilled tea garden workers, predominantly women from indigenous tea tribes, were struggling to earn a basic living. Arivana wa created to break this cycle. We directly procure from these resilient tea tribes, bringing their craftsmanship into the global spotlight they have always rightfully deserved.
